Lab Technician

Lab Technician Testing MLB Baseballs

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 – $22.00 per hour

Looking for a Part-time position with flexible mothers hours? The Brickle Group has the Job for you. We are looking for a Lab Technician to test and log the materials we use to create MLB baseballs. We are looking for someone to work 20 hours per week approximately 4 hours a day between 6AM and 2:30 PM Monday to Friday. Our perfect candidate has a strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, good computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Excel who is self motivated and able to work independently.

Essential Job Duties

  • Log sample information into spread sheet
  • Print appropriate test sheet which corresponds to the sample
  • Document sample information such as style#, lot#, case or bale#, date, etc.
  • Measure bleach and cut proper amount of sample
  • Weigh sample and log in initial weight
  • Add sample to bleach, stir and set timer
  • Rinse sample, squeeze dry and lay out on racks to dry overnight
  • Weigh yesterday’s dry samples and log weight and enter all information into Excel spreadsheet
  • Analyze data using statistical process control software in Excel to graph production changes
  • Run several tests concurrently but at different stages to best utilize available space and increase productivity
  • Submit results to appropriate management personnel for determination on blend adjustments

Secondary Job Duties

  • Special tests, as needed
  • Clean beakers and keep lab neat and organized
  • Advise Supply Chain Manager when supplies (bleach, etc.) are getting low
  • Keep abreast of changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies that effect production
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, safe work practices and other Company initiatives
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education and Work Experience

  • High School diploma and some college level coursework
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Proven accuracy working with numbers required
  • Knowledge of Excel charts and graphs preferred
  • Prior experience working in a lab is desirable

Purchasing Specialist

Job Type: Full-Time

The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for research and negotiation to purchase goods, materials, and services to ensure the company’s operational needs are met considering price, quality, and delivery. This position will prepare, maintain and review purchasing files and reports. The Purchasing Specialist will provide timely and accurate information to help ensure continuity of supply while working toward department goals and supporting the company values in a Continuous Improvement environment.

Essential Job Duties

  • Ensures compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Review requisition; manage quotation process; and analyze impact to determine best value supplier.
  • Enter purchase orders and communicate with suppliers.
  • Schedule, follow up on, and expedite deliveries as needed.
  • Source and research new suppliers.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external Business partners to drive cost-saving initiatives that align with company goals.
  • Advises management of any compliance issues or materials availability issues and potential production problems and coordinates any appropriate corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain necessary departmental files and documentation.
  • Participates in updating, maintaining and the analysis of reports to determine purchasing requirements.

Process Engineer

Process Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $80,000 – $100,000 per year

The Process Engineer will assist Manufacturing Engineering and the Director of Advanced Engineering in the Development, configuration and optimization of industrial processes from inception through to start-up, insuring consistency and high quality in the manufacturing of all products.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop a thorough understanding of all manufacturing processes and products.
  • Assist in specifying equipment and process requirements for the development of new products or product improvement.
  • Assess processes for efficiency and product quality by developing and analyzing statistical data to determine improvement parameters.
  • Serve as the primary quality assurance resource for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate resolution of technical and process problems and technical modifications.
  • Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodologies, quality plans documents and reports.
  • Assist in manufacturing productivity and quality improvements on the production floor.
  • Participate in closure of process deviations, investigations, and corrective actions to prevent recurrent deviations
  • Provide process documentation and operating instructions/SOPs.
  • Assist in Development of Process/Methods/Manufacturing documentation.
  • Research, conduct and test trials and sample runs, documenting results.
  • Works with Safety Manager to ensure proper safety set-up and safeguards for all new equipment.
  • Develops project plans and manages projects from inception to completion.
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Work with the plant support to participate in Kaizen projects. This includes project selection, justification, planning, training, execution, and project reporting.
  • Work closely with Continuous Improvement Manager in support of CI initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies that effect production.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, safe work practices and other Company initiatives.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as directed by management.

Education & Experience

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Textile Engineering preferred.
  • 5-8 years’ experience with Needle-punch and/or Carding manufacturing.
  • Experience implementing process and quality improvements in a manufacturing environment
  • Impeccable math and statistical analysis skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Previous project management experience with knowledge of project management software

Safety Coordinator

  • Support adherence to OSHA regulations with documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Record and analyze safety metrics to present to Management.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries and hazards and facilitate corrections.
  • Conducts equipment inspections before release to production, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and that all safeguards are in place.
  • Organize, participate in and record minutes of production safety meetings.
  • Provide analysis and support on all safety related issues to management, supervisors, and employees.
  • Trains employees on Corporate safety programs including Safety Orientation, LOTO and Forklift.
  • Maintain and update safety compliance and safety training documents.
  • Conduct workplace safety audits and recommend corrective action.
  • Works with Properties Manager to schedule, monitor and recommend improvements for employee fire drills.
  • Follow up and insure closure on Safety near misses.
  • Observes work in process, ensuring that proper safety equipment is worn and procedures are followed.
  • Coaches employees on following safety regulations; notifies management of violations.
  • Assist Continuous Improvement Manager with facilitation of Safety Kaizens.
  • Partners with Human Resources to discuss, schedule and present employee safety training and safety programs.
  • Prepare and present monthly safety dashboard to Senior Management team.
  • Responsible for fire extinguisher inspection compliance, corporate-wide.
  • Manages annual state and federal permitting requirements and environmental regulations ensuring filings are done appropriately and timely.

Education & Experience

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • OSHA safety training certification(s) a plus

Maintenance Manager

  • Leadership role in promoting company’s mission ensuring that Safety is instilled as a value and that all equipment meets the most stringent safety guidelines.
  • Use of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) software as the means to improve uptime of equipment while reducing maintenance costs.
  • Participates in objective setting, plan development and performance review of equipment.
  • Initiates, implements, and manages the two shift plant maintenance program based on best practices in the Textile Manufacturing industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance (TPM).
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Supervises plant maintenance personnel.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting, repair and installation of equipment
  • Manages projects related to new equipment, rebuilds and/or process improvements.
  • Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost -effective manner.
  • Develops, maintains and updates SOPs, operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
  • Ensures that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
  • Monitors operation of manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc. utilizing E-Maintenance system.

Education & Experience

  • Associates degree from two-year college in a related technical field or certificate or diploma from trade school in related field and five years’ experience in leading a maintenance operation of a process manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with repairs and maintenance of processing equipment.
  • Must have working experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).

  • Demonstrated capability of establishing an environment of ownership, accountability and personal responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively in a multi-function team environment
